IOSH 2017 will bring together a diverse range of speakers from the world of OSH and beyond to inspire, empower and motivate. It’s the conference for all business leaders and OSH professionals, providing thought-provoking keynote speakers and hands-on track and workshop presenters. You’ll leave the conference with ideas to discuss with your colleagues and implement in your workplace.

Melaney Doyle, Director, MPower People Development Ltd

Track session C: Understanding and managing diverse personalities at work

Melaney is Director of MPower People Development Ltd. She is a Chartered HR director and behaviour expert with 20 years’ experience in leadership, management and team development internationally and in the UK. With a MSc in Occupational Psychology she is passionate about supporting safe workplaces with appropriate organisational design, job design, stress and wellbeing processes and training/development for managers and staff.

John Huckstepp, Author, A Blank Canvas Ltd

Track session A: When global and local cultures collide - lessons from global business's local operations

John is a published author with a wealth of international experience of culture and consequences.  His experience covers rail, gas, chemicals, energy, education and health.  He has provided culture based solutions to a range of global businesses and currently works with Occupational Psychologists, Health and Safety and Human Resource Practitioners to improve performance, increase capability and reduce risk.

Chris Langer, Scheme Intelligence Manager, CIRAS

Track session A: The use of mindfulness in health and safety to reduce incidents

Chris is the Human Factors Advisor and Scheme Intelligence Manager at CIRAS. He has a master’s degree in Occupational Psychology and is a BACP registered counsellor and mindfulness teacher. His areas of specialism include: health and well-being, risk management and system safety, safety culture and reporting, and accident prevention. He publishes widely in the media and is a regular presenter at conferences and other safety events and forums.

Monica Monti, HSQE Manager,  Abellio London & Surrey

Track session A: The use of mindfulness in health and safety to reduce incidents

Monica is HSQE Manager for Abellio London & Surrey. She is CMIOSH qualified and champions behavioural safety, including mental health and mindfulness. In 2016, with CIRAS, she delivered a number of Fatigue Management Roadshows at the Abellio bus garages to raise awareness and understanding amongst drivers.

Andy Murdy, Managing Director, Explorator Consulting

Track session B: Fast track, mega projects, inexperienced workforce: making health and safety improvements in North Africa

Andy is the MD of Explorator Consulting and has had significant international experience within corporate and construction environments for over 20 years. Andy worked within the power sector for CEGB/Powergen/E.ON in the UK, Europe, Asia, the Americas and was latterly the Head of Health and Safety for E.ON España. Since 2012 he has been running his own consultancy providing services to Alstom, E.ON, and Siemens as well as a range of clients in the UK.

Jamie Sutherland-Pownall CMIOSH, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, Sellafield Ltd

Exhibition theatre session: Inspiring the next generation of OSH professionals

Jamie is currently an OSH Specialist for Sellafield Ltd, having previously worked in the Health and Social Care, Pharmaceutical and Chemical Manufacturing industries. As an IOSH Council Member and also Peer Reviewer; developing, inspiring and engaging with the future of the OSH profession forms a large part of his voluntary work.


Lawrence Waterman OBE CFIOSH, Managing Partner, Park Health and Safety Partnership LLP

Plenary interactive session: Populism, Brexit and H&S - an interactive panel debate

Lawrence is managing partner at the Park Health and Safety Partnership, head of H&S for the Royal Albert Dock development and formerly head of health and safety for the London Olympic Delivery Authority. He was awarded the OBE for services to H&S in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Honours. He is a past president of IOSH, an author and Visiting Professor at Loughborough University.
