Adam has worked in the NHS for 27 years, since graduating from City University. After training as an accountant he worked in a number of finance and operational management roles in various hospitals before becoming the Director of Finance and Continuous Improvement at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Following some regulatory concerns about care quality in the Trust, Adam was asked to lead the quality improvement programme agreed with the regulator and was appointed as Deputy CEO. In 2015, Adam joined Monitor, the regulator of foundation trusts as Executive Director of Provider Sustainability and following a reorganisation then became the Executive Director of Improvement for the NHS. Prior to leaving the NHS earlier this year, he covered the role of Regional Director of NHS England for the South West. Currently he is enjoying a career break but continues to provide advisory support to a range of NHS organisations.
